How to Assign Responsibilities to a Wedding Guest Book Attendant

In the midst of wedding planning, the guest book sometimes takes a back seat to rehearsals, bridesmaids dresses, flowers and other showier things. But the guest book will last for years and provide memories of that special day long after the flowers have wilted--if the guest-book attendant does her job. Take some time to assign those duties appropriately.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Choose someone you know and trust, perhaps a relative who is not in your bridal party, to take responsibility for the wedding guest book. Ask this person at least two weeks in advance of the wedding.

  2. Step 2

Find out where and when you will place the book and attendant at the ceremony to greet the guests as they enter the site. Inform your attendant of this location and assign a time to arrive before the ceremony.

  3. Step 3

Plan where to place the book and attendant at the reception and inform the attendant of the spot and when to arrive. You might want to ask the guest-book attendant to transport the book from the wedding to the reception.

  4. Step 4

Suggest ways that the guest-book attendant should get all the guests to sign the book, such as offering birdseed packets or wedding favors as they arrive.

  5. Step 5

Decide whether to have the guest-book attendant also take responsibility for collecting the wedding gifts. Make sure to include this duty in your list of instructions.

  6. Step 6

Thank this trusted friend for all his help on your special day.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you have a preference about what the guest-book attendant should wear, say so at the time you ask for her help.
