Step 1
Avoid looking like you are part of the retinue. The standard guide for dressing to be a wedding attendant is "wedding attire"--confusing advice that could mean to dress either as a wedding guest or as a member of the wedding party. A good rule of thumb is to complement the style and color scheme, but don’t match unless the bride requests it.

Step 2
Find out what the wedding party will be wearing so that you can plan appropriately. Your attire shouldn't overshadow or clash with that of the bridal attendants. So if the bridesmaids are in pastels, don't wear bright red, and if the groomsmen are in suits, don't wear a tuxedo.

Step 3
Choose clothing that is comfortable to both sit and stand in for long periods.
-
Step 4
Avoid strong perfume and minimize hairstyling products, as some guests might have allergies or sensitivities. You want to be as approachable as possible.

Step 5
Look at yourself in a mirror with your outfit on, both standing and sitting down. If your cleavage is visible from the front, it will be even more visible from above. Make sure you’re presenting the right appearance.
