From Quick Guide: Pro Sports
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Decide on the sport you want to follow: basketball, baseball, football or any other number of sports. Pick a sport that interests you, even if you don’t know all the rules to the game just yet.

  2. Step 2

Pick a particular team to follow. Now that you’ve narrowed it down to a specific sport, proceed to select a team in that sport. Oftentimes, the most logical team to follow is the team closest to where you live.

  3. Step 3

Educate yourself on the sport and specifically on the team. If you are new to the sport, go to your local library, and find a book that explains the basic rules of the sport. Once you understand the game, begin to study the particulars of the team that you have chosen to follow. Read about the players and coaches on the team, and research the team's history.

  4. Step 4

Watch the team play. Viewing the team in action is the best way to learn all the rules and to familiarize yourself to the players and coaches.

  5. Step 5

Follow the results and the latest news. You can usually find results, news and more in your local newspaper, especially if you’ve decided to follow a local pro sports team.

  6. Step 6

Attend games in person if you can. Doing so will give you the full experience of following a pro sports team.
