Figure skating clubs serve the community in many ways. Figure skating clubs have private and group lessons, sponsor figure skating shows and competitions, and support budding athletes.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Go to the United Skates Figure Skating Association website.
Step2
Select the "clubs" button and enter the appropriate information about where you are located.
Step3
Call each club and find out their practice schedule. Go visit a practice and talk to some of the skaters and coaches.
Step4
Different clubs have different aspirations. Let the club know what you are looking for and find out what the club philosophy is. Some parents are looking for a club where their child can learn in a low key environment. Other parents are training their child for the Olympics. And other parents are looking for a club for themselves. Match your criteria with the clubs criteria.
Step5
Take a look around the rink. This is a place where you could be spending a lot of time. Some rinks have other activities to keep parents and siblings busy while they wait. Some rinks have more elaborate snack stands. Weigh your needs with those at the rink.
Step6
Cost is also another factor to be considered when choosing a skating club. Some clubs allow their more advanced skaters to teach younger skaters and in return get a discount on their bill. Sometimes the rink will allow barter as well.
Step7
Join the club and enjoy!
