Pilates is a type of exercise which focuses on building flexibility and strength without building bulk. Originally developed in the 1930's by John Pilates, it has become very popular recently, especially in Hollywood circles. A lot of classes cost an arm and a leg to take, but there's a much more convenient way to study it, on video. Here are a few tips on how to see a Pilates workout on video!

  1. Step 1

    Buy a DVD. Many, many stores which specialize in the sale of movies, also now have a workout section. Take the time to browse the section and find a Pilates video that looks interesting to you. Be sure to find a tape that also suits your level of workout. Don't be afraid to snag a beginner video, we've all got to start somewhere!

  2. Step 2

    Surf the web. The amount of content on the web today is absolutely gynormous. Search Pilates video in your favorite search engine and browse the results. Either you can order a video right off the web, or maybe even download a Pilates workout video onto your hard drive, which you can then burn on a DVD.

  3. Step 3

    Ask some friends. If your friends are into the Pilates craze, chances are they may have a Pilates workout video that you can borrow. This way you can see if Pilates is right for you without spending any money up front.

  4. Step 4

    Record shows! Many people now have DVR (Digital Video Recorders) that come standard with their cable package. If this is the case, use the menu option on your DVR system and search Pilates. If there are some results, record them. This way you can play them back and be able to work out at your leisure!
