How to Play With a Tamagotchi

Tamagotchi toys will keep kids--and even some adults--busy for hours. This handheld virtual pet can be hung on a keychain and taken anywhere you go. Enjoy hours playing, feeding, grooming and even giving it virtual shots when it is sick.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

1. Get to know your Tamagotchi virtual friend. Press the “On” button and an egg will hatch. A small alien creature will appear on the screen.
2. Interact with your new creature by pressing different buttons on the toy. Each type of Tamagotchi has different needs. They change and grow mostly within 72 hours after the egg has hatched.
3. Feed your Tamagotchi friend and interact with it every 15 to 30 minutes at first. A newly-hatched Tamagotchi requires a lot of attention.
4. Turn the sound on and the Tamagotchi will beep when it needs something. Sometimes it will beep for no reason. This is when you need to discipline it.
5. Reward your pet with treats and play with it. Keep it happy and it will grow into an adult.
6. Monitor the heart rate of the Tamagotchi. If the Tamagotchi gets sick, give a it a shot to make it get better. If you let the heart rate drop, your Tamagotchi will get sad and eventually die.

Tips & Warnings

• If you are going to be away for a while put your Tamagotchi to sleep. When you return, it will be in the same stage before you left.
• Never drop the Tamagotchi toy in water. The toy is not waterproof.
