Things You'll Need:
- Pet wallaroo food
- Bermuda hay
- Food dish
- Hay rack
- Vegetables
- Grains
- Water trough
-
Step 1
Discuss your pet wallaroo’s diet with the breeder/person you adopt from. Your wallaroo may have specific habits or preferences about food and knowing them will make the transition to your home easier.
-
Step 2
Start with a commercially prepared pet wallaroo or wallaby food. Surprisingly, there are a few out there! Purina makes a wallaroo food, and wallaby food can be purchased online. Follow the directions for feeding printed on the packaging.
-
Step 3
Provide Bermuda hay throughout the year to meet your wallaroo’s fiber needs.
-
Step 4
Allow your wallaroo to browse and graze in a fenced outdoor area. Wallaroos will browse on shrubs and graze on grass and other vegetation and they need to gnaw on twigs to keep their teeth healthy.
-
Step 5
Add vegetables and grains as nutritious treats for your pet wallaroo. Try carrots, apples, sweet potatoes and various greens and grains.
-
Step 6
Spread peanut butter on bread for a special treat and as a way to hide the taste of powered supplements or medications.
-
Step 7
Provide fresh water for your wallaroo at all times.
