It is a time of celebration that is often shared with close friends and family. Follow these simple steps to ensure your guests are notified of the ceremony as quickly as possible.

1. Develop the tone you wish to set for your bris ceremony several weeks before your baby is due. In other words, decide whether you want a small, intimate gathering, or large, celebratory event.
2. Create a guest list that coincides with your tone.
3. Contact your rabbi or mohel to confirm the appropriate date and time for the bris ceremony immediately following your baby’s birth.
4. Confirm the date and time with the location hosting your celebration.
5. Call each person on your guest list to share your baby news and invite them to your bris ceremony. Make these phone calls as soon as the date and time are confirmed with your rabbi or mohel.
6. Follow-up with a confirmation e-mail to your guests that reiterates the time and place of the ceremony.

• Tell your guests to arrive approximately a half an hour before the ceremony is set to begin.
• Do not begin inviting your guests before you confirm the date with your rabbi or mohel. Jewish tradition has many exceptions to the eighth day rule, including Sabbath and holidays observances.
