1
Be informed about the company when you arrive. Reading about the company on its website might give you a better idea of what they are looking for and demonstrate preparedness.
-
2
Dress appropriately. Even though many work places have a casual atmosphere you still need to dress up for an interview. If they specifically tell you to be casual that means khakis or dress pants--not jeans.
-
-
3
Treat the interviewer with respect. Always be on time for an interview and listen to the entire question before answering.
-
4
Find out as much as you can about the position ahead of time. Think about your skill set and how it matches those needed for the human resources job.
-
5
Think of specific examples that show your attention to detail, communication and conflict resolution skills.
-
6
Let them know about your experience interviewing, working with payroll, benefits, labor relations, employee relations issues as well as hiring and firing.
-
7
Prepare a list of questions about the position and the company. Ask about the next steps in the hiring process.

Tips & Warnings
The goal is to convince them that you are the best person for the job. Give thoughtful, well-spoken responses with specific examples wherever possible. Don't just tell them you are the best; show them through your thoughtful answers and preparation.
The interview is also your chance to see if the job is right for you. Consider not taking the job if the human resources area does not seem like a good fit for you.
