How to Join a Square Dance Group

If you have a passion for square dancing, you may be interested in joining a square dance group. Groups are popping up all over the country and provide a great opportunity for people to get together and perform their favorite square dances.

1. Take a square dancing class. This is a great way to find square dancing groups in your area. Ask the other class members if they know of any groups open to new members.
2. Check your community center’s bulletin board. Many groups will post flyers to advertise their square dancing club.
3. Search the Internet for square dance groups. Bigger organizations use Web sites to let interested parties know the details regarding how to join the group.
4. Find a group that caters to your level of square dancing. If you are a beginner, you want to find a club that welcomes your skill level.
5. Start your own square dance group. If you can't find one in your area, organize your own.

Tips & Warnings

• Get a friend to join a square dance club with you. It will be less intimidating if you already know someone else in the group.
• You should make time to practice on a regular basis. If you are part of a group, you need to be able to keep up.
