Step 1
Move around the ring. Proper movement can help set up any strikes you attempt during the fight. MMA involves both striking and submission holds, so you will want to neutralize any strength your opponent has on you.
-
Step 2
Throw your hands. Even if you do not land any of these punches, it will keep the other fighter's mind on the possibility of getting punched in the face.
-
Step 3
Soften your opponent up with some leg kicks. Use your shin against their thigh, and if you land it properly, the effect can be similar to hitting them with a baseball bat.
-
Step 4
Rotate off your front foot when preparing to throw your body kick.
-
Step 5
Twist your hips into the kick. Getting your hips into any kick or punch will increase the power behind the strike.
-
Step 6
Whip your leg through the air before impact. This whipping effect will increase the speed of the blow.
-
Step 7
Reset your foot immediately back into position after the strike. This makes sure you do not lose your balance and get into a bad situation during the fight.
