Father's Day is the one day a year that we have to really show the men in our lives how much we love and appreciate them. A thoughtfully planned Father's Day will bring fun and joy to the great men in our lives.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Serve Dad breakfast in bed. The kids should prepare the meal if they are old enough, so that Dad can enjoy some extra R&R with his family favorite, Mom. Mom should supervise as necessary.
Step2
Let him stay in bed. Giving Dad a leisurely morning to rise when he pleases is a true treasure. Extra sleep is a sure way to make a happy father.
Step3
Give him gifts. Be thoughtful in choosing gifts for Dad. The standard tie is always great, but a gift from the heart is better. Think of things that he really loves to do and base your gift on this. Gift certificates for a massage or a round of golf are both good ideas.
Step4
Fix his favorite foods. There is no better way to a man's heart than through his stomach. Make Dad's favorite snacks, dinner and dessert. Let him help plan the menu if you are unsure of his favorites.
Step5
Do Dad's household chores. Clean up the dog poop. Mow the lawn. Wash his car. Take away Dad's responsibilities for the day. This will give him time to sit and read the Sunday paper without thinking of anything else.
Step6
Spend time as a family. Plan family activities this day to celebrate the man of the family. Take a walk together, or plan a bigger outing like a picnic at the park or a trip to his favorite restaurant. Whatever you do, do it together.
Step7
Do not fight. Hold any grievances for a different day by letting the little things slide. Make this a day filled with peace because there is no greater gift for a dad than a day free from a nagging wife and fighting children.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make a coupon book for Dad that he can redeem for help washing his car, his favorite cookies, making his bed and other helpful things.
  • After a day with the kids, put them to bed early and enjoy some couple time.
  • No nagging.
  • Do not give honey do lists today.
  • Do not let small children cook unattended.
