Daddies love to get special presents from their little ones. Kids usually want to give dad their favorite toy, like little Sammy who is two and tries to give Daddy his favorite toy dump truck. It is sometimes difficult to convince a child that dad might want something a little different, but here are a few easy ways to incorporate a grown up twist to a child's Father's Day gift.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Ask the child to name a few things that he thinks would be a great Father's Day gift for his dad.

  2. Step 2

Elaborate on the gifts the child has chosen and ask if she thinks the new gift sounds good.

  3. Step 3

Go shopping at the store that carries the gift that you and the child have in mind. It is often too overwhelming to go into a big store without a plan for the child. If he has his idea for a gift cemented in his mind, he can easily go on a treasure hunt for that particular gift.

  4. Step 4

Stay focused. Many of us know why we have just entered a store and then get quickly distracted by the newest or the best sale item. A child can get just as distracted, so stay focused until you have found your gift.

  5. Step 5

Choose a few variations of the gift the child has in mind. Choosing only one gift can get a child anxious that she has to pick the very best gift right now or he has failed. Don't let this happen. Choose a few gifts and narrow them down later.

  6. Step 6

Narrow down the gifts you have chosen. Talk to the child about why he is buying the gift and what he wants the gift to convey. Children are much smarter than we think. He will make the right choice.

  7. Step 7

Purchase the gift and allow the child to wrap and decorate it with her personal touch. The child will beam as she gives dad the gift that she picked out on her own.
