Shopping for one baby is stressful enough, but if you are expecting twins, it is even more difficult. Most parents may feel the urge to simply buy two of everything. This is not always the case. There are some simple rules to keep in mind when shopping for your newborn twins.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Decide which items the twins can share. Big ticket items, such as play yards and nursery furniture can be shared by the twins.

  2. Step 2

Start with only one crib or bassinet. Newborn twins do not need their own beds during the first months. They actually prefer staying close to their sibling.

  3. Step 3

Buy items that are specifically designed for twins. For example, double strollers make getting your twins around a lot easier. There are also swings designed for two babies.

  4. Step 4

Purchase items with which the babies can take turns. This can include swings and a baby bathtub.

  5. Step 5

Remember that you must buy two car seats. It would also be wise to get two high chairs and two bouncers.

  6. Step 6

Stock up on extra essential baby items. You should buy large containers of diapers, wipes and baby formula. It may help to purchase a wholesale club membership.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't worry about buying many pieces of baby clothing. The twins can usually wear the same items.
  • If the twins seem to enjoy using the same item at the same time, it may be wise to invest in another one in order to prevent sibling rivalry.
