The Paleolithic diet is a low carb diet. It starts with the idea that people were built to live on a diet of hunting and gathering long before agriculture was invented. It's easy to lose weight with the Paleolithic diet. You don't have to count calories or restrict the amount of food you eat or do a huge amount of exercise.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Think about what you would eat if you were hunting and gathering in the wild 10,000 years ago. There are no grocery stores. If you can imagine eating it then, you can eat it now.

  2. Step 2

Banish all grains and foods that are made from them; bread, pasta, rice, cookies and most alcoholic drinks.

  3. Step 3

Toss out all dairy products; milk, cheese and ice cream.

  4. Step 4

Get rid of sugar and corn syrup and anything made with them.

  5. Step 5

Gobble up tasty animals. You're a hunter. So eat meat, poultry and seafood.

  6. Step 6

Gather nuts and fruits, especially berries like strawberries, blueberries and raspberries.

  7. Step 7

    Cook up some eggs.

  8. Step 8

Eat lots of vegetables, including root vegetables like carrots, turnips and parsnips.

  9. Step 9

Exercise regularly. Just walking a half an hour a day is enough.

  10. Step 10

    Drink plenty of water.

Tips & Warnings
  • Unless you have superhuman willpower, you might find that you have to ban all forbidden foods from the house. It's too easy to hit the ice cream in a moment of weakness.
  • Make sure when you're eating allowed foods that they aren't prepared in a way which violates the rules, like fried chicken. Chicken is okay but not the batter in which the chicken is cooked.
  • Peanuts don't count as nuts. They're actually a bean.
  • Potatoes are one root vegetable you shouldn't eat.
