If the bride has a green thumb, a garden themed bridal shower may be just the ticket. With a garden themed bridal shower, everything from the decorations and games to the gifts centers on the beauty of the garden and gardening. This is a great shower idea to get the new bride started on planting in her new home’s garden, something she will enjoy immensely.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Topiary or flowering plants for centerpieces
  • Flowers for the bride’s chair
  • Herbs for guessing game
  • Thank you notes

Step1
List the guests you would like to invite and select ideal dates for the bridal shower. Once you have these two items, you can work on finding a location for the garden bridal shower.
Step2
Find the perfect location for your garden bridal shower. It could be lovely to hold the shower in someone’s home or at a historical landmark with a large garden that guests could walk around.
Step3
Decorate for the garden bridal shower, with the beauty of nature. Miniature topiary plants or flowering plants are pretty centerpieces.
Step4
Create a pretty chair for the bride. Put flowers on the top of her chair and make it look special; people will notice this while she opens her gifts.
Step5
Give guests a bridal shower favor that suits that gardening theme. A seed packet, a seedling, a garden tool or even hand cream for gardeners are ideal.
Step6
Play a garden game such as guessing what type of plant a seedling is, or sniffing small cups of herbs and guessing what type of herbs they are. Create a game based on your love of the garden that the guests will enjoy.
Step7
Send out pretty thank you notes with flowers or plants on them. You can find these at many botanical centers or even at large bookstores.

Tips & Warnings

  • Flowers and plants that are in season will be the most inexpensive.
  • When given the choice, select flowers and plants that have a luscious scent. Guests will remember plants and flowers that smell especially good.
  • Let guests take the centerpiece plants home at the end of the party.
  • Be sure to check if any of your guests have pollen or other types of allergies. They could be allergic to something at your bridal shower.
