Learning how to play poker is not as daunting of a task as it may seem. There are many available avenues to learn how to play the game. While it will take a long time to master all the intricacies of poker, learning the basics of poker isn't overly difficult.

    Download free poker software. You can play online poker versus other people for free. By practicing this way, you can gain valuable experience without having to spend any money.

  3. Step 3

    Find poker games in your area. Poker games happen daily throughout the world. You can use the Internet or your local phone book to find poker clubs close to where you live.

  4. Step 4

    Practice the game of poker. Like any game, you can't get better without the repetition of practice. Whether you are playing online or in live games, the practice can only help you get better.

  5. Step 5

    Decide if you want to play poker with real money. Some people play poker for a living or as their preferred way to gamble. If you choose to do so, you can either go to a casino or download poker software that will let you play with real money.
