How to Create a Crossword Puzzle
No matter how old a person gets, they are never too old to enjoy a good crossword puzzle. You can buy from thousands of puzzle books, but there is no need to do that when it is so easy to make your own on the computer. You can make them easy for young children or hard to stump that stubborn adult who thinks they know everything.
Instructions

-
1
Choose a suitable theme for your crossword puzzle. The person doing the puzzle should have some knowledge on the subject and a fair chance of solving the puzzle.
-
2
Determine the difficulty level you want it to be. You can have it be easy, medium or hard. To make it harder, use longer words for the answers and more clues to solve.
-
-
3
Type a list of the answers that are going to form the puzzle.
-
4
Create the clues for each answer. To make it harder, use creative clues rather than direct definitions of the answers.
-
5
Jump online and search for a free crossword creator. There are many Web sites that automatically generate your puzzle after you enter the clues and answers.
-
6
Print the blank puzzle and a second page with the answers. Give the blank puzzle to your "victim."

Many of the free crossword-creation Web sites do not even make you register. You might want to find a good one to register with if you plan on making crosswords regularly.
Do not worry about the design of the crossword as you come up with your clues and answers. The tool will do that for you, and it will let you know if it cannot fit a word into your puzzle so that you can adjust it.
