How to Level Alchemy in World of Warcraft

Alchemy in World of Warcraft is a powerful profession. It allows you to make potions and elixirs that can heal, replenish magic energy and improve stats. An expert alchemist can make potions that increase health, defense and stealth and are useful to the alchemist and people in his party. Leveling alchemy, though, takes a great deal of work and time, and you need to continually work on it to level alchemy effectively.

    Instructions

    1. The Basics

      • 1

Choose alchemy as a profession. You can find alchemy trainers in most major cities or close by.

      • 2

Take herbalism as your other profession. You are allowed only two professions (plus cooking and first aid) in World of Warcraft. Some professions do not require another one to be effective, but alchemy needs herbalism. Herbalism will allow you to find herbs to use to make your potions.

      • 3

Be patient. Alchemy is going to take a long time to level up. You must have a high-enough character level to raise your alchemy level at certain points, so you will not be able to be a Master Alchemist with a low-level character.

      • 4

Constantly work on it. Always make the side trips while exploring or questing to pick up herbs that you find with herbalism and use them whenever you can to make potions. This will keep you somewhat up-to-date on your training.

      Leveling Alchemy

      • 1

Make all the potions you can. Minor healing potions are easy to make, and the ingredients are fairly abundant. Making 50 or 60 of these will get you to around level 50.

      • 2

Train to be a Journeyman Alchemist when you reach alchemy level 50. Your character level must be at least 10. This will allow you to make more complex potions.

      • 3

Begin making higher-level potions. You can use minor healing potions if you have extras left to make lesser healing potions. Create only potions whose names are green or yellow. Potions with their names in gray yield no experience.

      • 4

Train to be an Expert Alchemist at alchemy level 125. Your character must be at least level 20.

      • 5

Continue to grind. This is the part where it gets tough, because supplies are sparse and they cost more to buy from the auction house. You can focus on healing potions until you are at 175 and greater healing potions from 175 to 215.

      • 6

Become an Artisan Alchemist at level 200 by talking to the appropriate trainer. Your character must be level 35 to become an Artisan Alchemist.

      • 7

Make everything you can. From level 200 on is the hardest. You will probably have to spend significant gold to continue to level. Make elixirs of agility, greater defense, detect undead and greater agility, as well as superior healing potions. When you can, make superior mana potions and major healing potions. After some time, you will reach the ranks of Master Alchemist.

    Tips & Warnings

    • Use your potions and share them with party members or guild mates. There is no need to let them go to waste.

    • You can also make some extra money to fund alchemy or save for other amenities by selling your potions on the auction house. Avoid selling your potions to vendors, because you won't make as much money.

    • Create another character on the same server to hold on to supplies. You can use the in-game mail system to send extra herbs and potions you may use later so that they don't take up space in your inventory. Be sure to send some money to the other character so they can send you mail back.

    • Don't give up on your profession. It takes time to level a profession, no matter which one you choose. Persistence will result in powerful potions that will help your character succeed in Warcraft.
