IPod’s are a great way to take your music with you anywhere you go. IPod's take power, though, and keeping your iPod powered is an important asset to keeping the music going. You can charge your iPod with your computer, but buying an iPod power adapter will allow you to charge your iPod when you don’t have a computer available. This way you can keep your music going while traveling or when away from your computer.

From Quick Guide: Apple iPod Troubleshooting
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Check to make sure you know what model of iPod you have. You need to make sure the power adapter you buy supports your model of iPod.

  2. Step 2

Decide the functionality you want from your power adapter. You can get power adapters for wall outlets or for your car. If you get a power adapter for your vehicle, it may also allow you to play your music from your iPod over your car stereo. These amenities will most likely cost more.

  3. Step 3

Visit your local Apple store or Apple’s online store. The power adapters will be the most reliable but will probably cost more than other brands.

  4. Step 4

Check your local electronics stores or retailers for better prices or more functionality. Other brands may give you options that Apple does not.

  5. Step 5

Verify to make sure that the power adapter you are purchasing will work with your model of iPod. Always keep your receipt just in case it does not work.

Tips & Warnings
  • IPod Nano’s will not work with firewire power adapters. Be sure that if you have an iPod Nano, the power adapter says specifically that it works with the Nano.
