For privacy reasons, you may want to avoid people knowing what number you are calling from when placing a call from your cell phone. If you want to block your cell phone number from showing up on caller ID when you call someone, the process is very simple. You can block the number through your cellular phone carrier or temporarily on the phone itself.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Call your cell phone carrier. Dial 611 from your cell phone to reach customer service and tell your provider that you would like to request line block. The representative from your carrier may ask you a few questions, but the process is quick and painless.
Step2
Dial *82 if you need to unblock your number. Once you have put line block on your phone, you can temporarily take it off by dialing *82 before dialing out.
Step3
Block a specific call. If you do not want to put line block on your cell phone permanently, you can block your number temporarily on a call-by-call basis.
Step4
Dial *67 before dialing out to just block that particular call. After entering *67, proceed to dial the rest of the number as usual.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you use temporary blocking, you should dial your own home phone number, if you have caller ID, to test to see if the block is working.
  • Do not block your number just to commit prank calls, fraud or crime.
