Hawaii is an ideal location for a romantic honeymoon. The beauty of the islands and the wonderful water activities make a great trip. However, honeymooning in Hawaii can be expensive. If you plan ahead and look for discounts, it's not impossible to plan a honeymoon to Hawaii on a budget.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Reservation
  1. Step 1

Select a date for your honeymoon trip. The cheapest rates for airfare and hotel are in the spring and fall. Make sure there are no holidays around the time you are planning your honeymoon to Hawaii. Remember that arriving Sunday through Thursday is often much cheaper than on the weekend.

  2. Step 2

Find promotional codes and discount deals. Search the Internet for web-only deals, promo codes and other discounted rates. Look for AAA discounts, AARP discounts and any other group or club discounts you can find.

  3. Step 3

Book a package deal. A variety of companies offer deals that include airfare, hotel, car rental and more. These package deals are good for honeymooners on a budget. Try Pleasant Holidays at (800) 742-9244 or Outrigger Properties at (800) 688-7444. Don't forget to tell them that you are going on your honeymoon. There are sometimes bigger discounts and extra perks for honeymooners.

  4. Step 4

Eat on a budget. Buffets and Chinese food restaurants are always low-cost options for eating while in Hawaii. Look for restaurant coupons in local newspapers and magazines.

  5. Step 5

Purchase a Gold Card. You can save up to 50% on hundreds of activities in Hawaii by purchasing an Activities and Attractions Association of Hawaii Gold Card. Call (800) 398-9698 for more information.

Tips & Warnings
  • When checking into your hotel, remind the staff that you are on your honeymoon. Often they will give you a gift basket, free meals, champagne and more.
  • Do not do too much shopping while in Hawaii. Gift stores and clothing stores are very expensive in the tourist areas of Hawaii.
