There are several themes that you can use to create your young son’s bedroom. A popular and fun idea to use is a sailboat-themed bedroom. To create this look, you can completely redo the room or simply add a few easy touches to his existing room.

Keep the same wall color or paint the room in a light blue shade. You can add water-themed borders or use water or sailboat stencils on the walls. You can also paint a mural of a sky on the ceiling.

Hang nautical-themed pictures upon the walls. You can buy prints of lighthouses, ships, personalized sailboat art and pictures of pirates. The frames for the prints should be dark reds, blues or black.

Place sailboat related items throughout the room. This can include model ships, ships in a bottle and anchor knick-knacks. Hang a clock with a sailboat painted on the background.

Put up white wooden shades with large slats. Rope can be placed at the top of the windows to look like rigging.
