Things You'll Need:
- MP3 player and speakers
- Band
- DJ
-
Step 1
Make a sentimental choice for the father-daughter dance. Choose classic songs that are well-known or select one that is of particular significance to the dancing couple. Songs such as "What a Wonderful World" or "You Are So Beautiful" are ideal sentimental choices for this heartwarming moment.
-
Step 2
Get the party moving by playing dance music. Let your teen decide what bands to play as they will know what is the most popular music among their friends. You may be surprised to hear some of your favorite dance songs being played!
-
Step 3
Hire a band for your Sweet Sixteen party. Most musicians have a number of songs which they can play upon request though you may have to make arrangements before the date of the event if you wish to have a lesser known song played.
-
Step 4
Amaze your guests with a string ensemble or orchestra for a very formal Sweet Sixteen party. If you plan on having a first dance for the guest of honor or a father-daughter dance, it is probably best to practice the dance steps to the music that will be played beforehand.
-
Step 5
Play the songs that your teen wants to hear while keeping an eye on the budget by creating a playlist for your MP3 player. Songs can be downloaded from websites or uploaded from CDs you already own and your teen can create a "musicscape" for the entire event by selecting songs and albums. Or just hit random or shuffle on your MP3 player and see what comes up. Make sure that you have speakers that will project adequately.
-
Step 6
Select a "last dance" song to help wind the party down at the end of the night. Slow songs are ideal for this purpose and can be an aural cue for your guests that the night is drawing to a close.

on 2/7/2009 another good idea is a father/daughter dance - there is a band on the web named "whoarethoseguys" (look em up) - email them. I heard one of their songs at a sweet 16 that is perfect for that (email them and ask for a copy or they can get you a cd or a place to download it)
