Collect Games for a Tea Party

Step1
Plan games that will get people talking, connecting and relaxing. A tea party is a warm event used to bring women together for support and socializing. Stay away from long, drawn-out board games that require a lot of steps, time and concentration.
Step2
Suggest games that will elicit group interaction. Ask guests to complete a task to initiate mingling. Tell the ladies to go around the table and each share something that they are grateful for. As hostess, break the ice by being first to go.
Step3
Read a famous literary quote. Award a gift to the person who can name the author. The winner gets to pick from a basket filled with wrapped gifts of stationery, scented candles and perfume. People love to win prizes, and it's a nice way to tie-in your game to the theme.
Step4
Consider how well the guests know each other when you plan games. Find more game ideas at Evite (see Resources below). You'll see activities that pose fun questions, such as the "Interview Game."
Step5
Ask guests to participate in a cookie-swap. Request friends to bake their favorite cookies and bring along the recipe. Each person gets to take home a sample of cookies as well as a new baking idea.
Step6
Raffle off the table centerpiece (or some other memento) to one lucky lady. Have a sticker randomly placed at the bottom of a tea cup saucer. Take a moment to ask everyone to lift their saucers to check for the hidden emblem.
Step7
Read about unique themes and games in "The Party Girl Cookbook" by Nina Lesowitz and Lara Morris Starr available at Amazon (see Resources below).

Tips & Warnings

  • Consider the age group of tea party guests. Plan a game of musical chairs for young girls and for older girls suggest fun crafts like flip-flop decorating.
  • Tea parties are for engaging conversation, female-bonding and unwinding. Suggest a cell-phone and BlackBerry free party!
