Things You'll Need:
- Desserts
- Finger sandwiches
- Appetizers
- Tea and mixers
-
Step 1
Figure out how much food you'll require to feed the number of attendees. Write up a menu in the planning stages of your tea party.
-
Step 2
Serve light sandwiches, a popular staple at tea parties, sometimes called finger sandwiches. These are cut in little triangle or square shapes and displayed on serving trays.
-
Step 3
Select the fillings for your sandwiches. Take into consideration your guests might not all like the same foods. Have a variety of breads, such as rye, white and pumpernickel. Do the same with the fillings, offering cream cheese and cucumbers, egg salad, and crab meat.

Step 4

-
Step 5
Serve the tea. Have teapots filled with hot water on each table and a selection of individual tea bags so your guests can take what kind they want. Or you can have pots of tea already brewed available at a serving area.
-
Step 6
Offer at least two kinds of tea for people to choose from. Have all the proper essentials for tea-lovers: lemon wedges, honey, cream or milk and lumps of sugar (for an old school touch).
-
Step 7
Mix up the sweet offerings for dessert. Traditional delights for garden parties are small cakes, muffins, scones and fruit tarts. Select jams and preserves for guests to spread on the scones and muffins. Get more tea party food ideas at Evite (see Resources below).
