The whole point of a stock-the-bar party is to literally stock the bar with plenty of liquor, wine, beer and barware. With that said, it only makes sense to get the party started with liquor flavored invitations.

Pick Stock the Bar Party Invitations

  1. Step 1

Look for invitations that portray the stock-the-bar theme. Martini or wine glasses, liquor bottles or even a beer can motif will get your point across.

  2. Step 2

Pick invitations that hint at the type of liquor you want to stock your bar with. If you favor wine, choose a wine bottle or wine glasses as a graphic. If you prefer beer, a keg shaped invite adds a touch of fun. Expect to get a wide variety of liquor and accessories, but it doesn't hurt to aim the people you're inviting in the right direction.

  3. Step 3

Keep costs down by creating your own invitations. You can use stock images and print the invites yourself, or use your craft skills to hand make them. If you can get your hands on a wine store catalog, you'll have plenty of great photos to use.

  4. Step 4

Find invitations at many wedding invitation printers. Stock the bar is common theme for wedding showers, so many printers and companies that handle mostly wedding invitations will keep a few bar designs in stock. You will be able to order a higher quantity at a lower price than purchasing invites at a card store.

  5. Step 5

Get creative and have fun. A stock the bar party does not require any formal calligraphy, linen paper or reply cards.

  6. Decide What to Include on the Invitations

  7. Step 1

Pick invitations that actually say "stock the bar" on them. Simply saying "toast the new home" or "bring a gift" doesn't completely convey the fact that guests should bring items for the bar.

  8. Step 2

Remember to include an address and a phone number. You'd be surprised how many people leave out the obvious details when creating themed invites.

  9. Step 3

Provide a phone number or email address so guests can RSVP if you want to get a head count before the party. If your party is more informal, then having guests respond isn't critical.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure you clearly state that everyone needs to bring a bottle or some barware to attend. Otherwise, you'll end up with a pretty meager bar.
  • Keep your guests on track by registering for barware. Since the party is not formal, it is acceptable to include a small card with registration information when you send the invitation.
