1. Take stock of your invitees. Consider such aspects as the age range and how well the guests know each other. Also take where the event is being held into consideration. Coming up with answers to these questions will help you as you navigate the myriad possibilities that exist as you plan activities for the stag party. Some activities will immediately strike you as more suitable than others once you give further thought to who will be participating in them.

2. Give some consideration to the underlying purpose of the stag party. Some are held with an eye to raising money for the groom-to-be's wedding expenses, while others are simply held for the fun of it. Plan activities accordingly.

3. Consider holding a raffle or a casino-themed event if you want to help the groom raise some funds to take a bite out of the wedding costs. Common variations include poker and blackjack night, or other games of chance played with strictly imposed betting limits to keep things light and fun. Stub tickets can be sold at the door and used by guests for a chance to win prizes at the games you chose to include in the evening's entertainment.

4. Before you rush off and book the classic stag party exotic dancer or reserve tables at your local strip club, make sure this serves the best interests of all your anticipated guests. If male members of the bride's family are invited (especially her father), this may not be as good an idea as it may seem.

5. Keep it simple and fun. Rent out an event hall in your city, book space in a local pub or bar, or head to a restaurant for camaraderie and a nice meal. If you would rather err on the side of caution, a simple gathering with a cash or open bar and some simple activities (prize raffles, for example) will do just fine.

6. Book a weekend out of town if there's only a small- to medium-sized group of friends celebrating with the groom. 'Stag weekends' at a well-known party destination (Las Vegas, Atlantic City and Montreal are common choices) are becoming increasingly popular, especially among younger men.
