Check local laws for how many security guards are needed per person at a crowd. Depending on your venue, you may need one security guard for every 100 people, or you many need more or less depending on the city you live in.
-
2
Contract with a security company that will provide bouncers and security guards for a reasonable fee. You can pay per guard or a flat fee. Most likely, you will need to pay security out of your pocket even if you are having your party at a club.

3
Read through your contract to see what your venue considers proper security. You may void your contract terms if you do not provide enough security.
-
4
Speak with your local police or sheriff's department to see if you are required to provide a law enforcement presence at your rave. This may only needed if you are having a party that closes down streets or uses public property. It is better to have the cops there from the beginning making sure everything is legal than to have them bust the party later.

5
Make sure that a few of your security guards know general first aid in case there are any medical emergencies. You may even consider having EMTs on site.
-
6
Station security at every door and exit to make sure there is proper coverage of the event. This will keep unwanted guests out and help people attendance leave in an orderly manner should anything go wrong inside the venue.
-
7
Hire a few extra guards if you plan on having a large party. You may end up a huge crowd outside the party as well. Extra security can help keep crowds inside and out in hand.
-
8
Arrange to have a manager specifically deal with security during the event. That person will liaison between event organizers, the city and security company to make sure everything is up and running properly.

Tips & Warnings
While raves are often seen as underground events, it is always a good idea to provide some sort of security in case something does happen at the party. It is better to have a strict bouncer than have people end up hurt.
