Select Party Games for Small Groups

  1. Step 1

Choose from the many board games available to play with small groups. Games where people can play on their own or in a team are ideal, such as Trivial Pursuit or Scrabble. Other games such as Cranium and Taboo! require small groups to divide into teams.

  2. Step 2

Play a card game such as canasta or hearts with a small group of four. Parties with more than four guests can play games such as hand-and-foot. Each game is a variation on the idea of gathering like cards together and requires knowledge of the game's rules before playing.

  3. Step 3

Guess what your guest is thinking about when you play 20 questions. One guest is selected to think of something and the remaining guests have 20 questions to ask in order to determine what it is. If they haven't figured it out in 20 questions, the person who is answering the questions wins!

  4. Step 4

Play a drinking game such as "I Have Never" where each player must take a sip each time another player mentions something they have done. This game can also be played with coins or tokens, where the player must pay the person who mentions something they have done.

  5. Step 5

Select a game that tests your guests' memories. Select a few household items such as food, silverware or knick-knacks and place them on a tray under a cloth. Allow each guest to see the items for one minute. Each guest then writes down every object she can remember. The guest who remembers the most objects correctly wins.

  6. Step 6

Host a progressive dinner with a scavenger hunt incorporated into the evening's activities. Each guest should be provided with a list of things to find in each host's house. The winner is the person who finds the most objects.

Tips & Warnings
  • Serve easy to eat finger food at your party game soiree. This will allow your guests to play as well as enjoy the food you've prepared.
