Step1
Make the party favor part of the event's activities by designing an easy to make knitted bookmark. Ask your guests to bring their own extra large needles or provide enough for the group and invite them to cast on five to 10 stitches of an large novelty yarn. Stitch garter stitch rows to the desired length. You will want the completed project to be long enough to drape comfortably between the pages of a book.
Step2
Give each of your guests a set of unique knitting needles designed by you! Buy rounded chopsticks and use hot glue to apply oversized beads or other round baubles onto the flat end. Stick the chopsticks into a glass or jar to allow them to dry. Then tie each pair together with a decorative ribbon and card thanking your guest for attending your crafty party.
Step3
Pick out a brightly printed fabric to make a simple needle holder for all of your guests. Cut two strips of fabric to 2 1/2 inches by 20 inches. Stitch right sides together around the outside edges, leaving a small hole for turning the fabric right sides out. Fold the stitched fabric in half length wise and stitch around the two long sides. Top stitch a straight line down the center of the fabric to create two pockets for storing knitting needles.
Step4
Put together a brief instructional guide to help your friends remember the basic stitches they've learned at your party. You can pick a paper that coordinates with the party's theme and even format the instructions on your computer so that they make a small booklet when folded.
Step5
Put together inexpensive needles and yarn along with an instruction booklet and place them in gift bags for your guests. They can pick up these new projects for your next knitting party!
