Plan a Tasty Menu for Your Knitting Party

Step1
Keep foods small and easy to eat. Remember your guests will be busy chatting and knitting--they won't have time to mess with a fork and knife, so look to finger foods for inspiration when planning your menu.
Step2
Create a delicious and healthy platter of raw vegetables or crudite for your guests to nibble on throughout the night. Crisp vegetables such as baby carrots, celery, bell peppers and cherry tomatoes are perfectly dippable choices that are complemented well by a seasoned sour cream or yogurt dip. You can buy pre-packaged crudite platters if you are short on time or you can make your own.
Step3
Offer your guests a phyllo-wrapped mushroom appetizer. Cook finely diced mushrooms, garlic and onions in butter in a saute pan and spread onto thawed sheets of phyllo or puff pastry. Roll the mushroom-filled dough and slice into rounds. Place these tasty roulades onto a buttered cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees until brown. Serve them warm as a delightfully rich treat.
Step4
Tempt your guests with layered cookie bars. Drizzle melted butter over graham cracker crumbs in a rimmed cookie sheet and pack it down to create a crust. Sprinkle on chocolate chips, nuts and coconut flakes. Pour on some sweetened condensed milk and bake at 350 degrees until bubbly and slightly brown. Allow the cookies to cool before cutting into bite size squares.
Step5
Plan a knitting themed menu with "Knit 1, Purl 2" cocktails. Mix up your favorite brightly colored libation and use a small new plastic knitting needle as a cocktail stirrer.
Step6
End the evening with a fresh cup of coffee or tea to warm your guests' spirits as they depart with their new knitting projects in hand.

Tips & Warnings

  • Ask your guests if they have any allergies to foods such as dairy and nuts before you plan your menu.
