Leapfrog (aka LeapFrog Enterprises, Inc.) is a company that makes educational infant toys. Leapfrog toys can be bought and reviewed online and at major retailers nationwide. Infant toys by the Leapfrog Company are made for children from day one to month 12. Toddler toys start at 12 months and can entertain toddlers until 36 months. Many infant toys offered are suitable for children six months to 36 months.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Choose Infant Toys for Birth to Six Months

  1. Step 1

Visit the Leapfrog website for product information and to make an order (see Resources below). Search by developmental benefits or by age group.

  2. Step 2

Purchase musical toys for older infants. Select a Learn and Groove product like the musical table, alphabet drum or counting maracas for instruments that have a dual purpose.

  3. Step 3

Add a squeezable learning friend to the toy room with Tad and Lily from Leapfrog. These plush stuffed animals feature alphabet, counting and colors music.

  4. Step 4

Count with a Baby Counting Pal for infants over three months. Parents can select English, Spanish and French versions of this colorful caterpillar toy.

  5. Step 5

Choose an infant learning system like the LeapStart Gym or the LeapStages Infant Learning System. Leapfrog offers learning systems suitable for birth through 18 months.

  6. Step 6

Consider a Little Leaps animal for the newborn infant. Select one of these cuddly animal toys modeled after the learning characters Bun Bun the Rabbit, Lulu the Spider, Sami the Squirrel and Nestor the Bird.

  7. Select Infant Toys for Six Months to 36 Months

  8. Step 1

Check out the bright blue Roll and Rhyme Learning Elephant. This elephant includes a spinning belly revealing day and night scenes. It also comes equipped with learning songs to teach numbers, body parts and more.

  9. Step 2

Read the soft Counting House Animal Party book with your infant for learning fun with colors, animals and numbers.

  10. Step 3

Discover letters, music and lights with the Leapfrog Discovery Ball. Infants can select a letter to hear it recited, teaching letter names and sounds. The ball can be spun on the ground for toddlers or remain on a base for infant play.

Tips & Warnings
  • Select toys suitable for a wide age range to encourage infant/toddler interaction. Leapfrog makes toys to stimulate infants from birth to 36 months.
  • See if there are any recalled Leapfrog infant toys on the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission website (see Resources below). Choose "Leapfrog" from the company drop-down menu and hit the "Find" button.
