How to Select a Superman Toy

Superman is a DC comic book superhero with supernatural powers, which he uses to save the world. He may very well be the most popular action hero comic character, and there are many Superman products available-from toys to bed sheets.

Select a Superman Toy

1. Consider the age of the toy recipient if this will be a gift. If it's for a child, select a toy he can play with, such as a Superman coloring book. When buying for an adult, an action figure is the most appropriate type of Superman toy.
2. Visit the DC Direct website to see a list of new and upcoming Superman action figures (see Resources below). You can also look at a list of all the Superman action figures the company produces at this site. Select the newest figures to keep a collection current, or select older ones to fill out your collection.
3. Check the Superman toy for removable parts or accessories. If you intend the toy for a child, be sure that the action figure does not have parts that could pose a choking hazard. You may still want to keep this in mind if the child is old enough to handle such a toy but has a much younger sibling in the house.
4. Be aware of your gift recipient's Superman collection, if any. You will want to be sure that you are not purchasing something that she already has unless she has expressed a desire for a duplicate.
5. Consider sticking with Superman toys that have been made by licensed manufacturers. Unlicensed copies of toys may be less expensive but are often made with materials that are not durable. Also, they have no collection value.
6. Keep your budget in mind when selecting a Superman toy. You can purchase an inexpensive toy for a small child, such as a Superman Vision Scope (play telescope) or purchase a pricier collector's set of action figures for an older child.
7. Be sure that the person you are buying this toy for really does like Superman toys. You can assure yourself of this by looking at the toy collection he already has. If this is for a friend's child, you might want to check with the parents first before you buy.
8. Check the toy before you pay. Be certain that the Superman toy is complete, if it comes with accessories, and that it has no defects.
9. Consider Superman action figures that come along with other superheroes. You can find toy sets that contain Superman and some of his friends. These make good gifts for ardent fan of comic superheroes in general.
10. Check for quality. Although it is sometimes difficult to tell, make sure the Superman toy is made of material that will not break easily.
11. Go to the website of a major toy retailer like Toys "R" Us to see a variety of Superman-themed toys (see Resources below). Select from among the best-selling toys to purchase a gift most likely to be popular with a youngster.
