Step 1
Learn blackjack strategies. At first glance, blackjack may appear to be a simple game. The reality, however, is that there is strategy involved. The most basic strategy is to always assume that the dealer's hidden card is a 10 or a face card. For example, if you see the dealer has a six showing, and you assume the other card is worth 10, it means you base your decisions on the dealer having 16.

Step 2
Practice playing blackjack without risking your money. Purchase a blackjack video game or play blackjack online. By playing a lot, you will reinforce the strategies that you have learned. Seeing a variety of card combinations and the ebb and flow of the game will help you to win money playing blackjack.
-
Step 3
Bring money to the game. It's hard to win money unless you bring money to play with. Worrying about running out of money will cause you to lose focus and forget your strategies.
-
Step 4
Learn to accept loses. The dealer holds the advantage in blackjack, so you will lose money during the game. Learning to tolerate losses during downswings will result in you still sitting at the table playing when the momentum swings back in your favor. You can't win at blackjack unless you play.
-
Step 5
Look for tables that pay out 3:2 (or $3 for every $2 bet) for a natural blackjack (when you're dealt 21). Try to avoid tables that offer 6:5 for the same hand--these tables don't pay as well. Over the course of a long game, the difference between the two adds up.

Step 6
Make some big bets. You can only win what you put into the betting circle. To make money you have to bet money. Time your big bets for when the dealer has cards in your favor.
