Step 1
Decide whether you want to make a traditional scrapbook or a virtual one. This will impact the type of software you choose. Virtual scrapbook software generally does not contain programming to allow you to print out elements for a physical scrapbook.
-
Step 2
Look for software that is user-friendly. You don't want to spend a great deal of time learning how to use a program or typing in a series of codes and commands to make it do what you want. The best scrapbook software is as easy to use as pointing and clicking your mouse, with functions that are practically self-explanatory.
-
Step 3
Find software with features you need. If you are particularly fond of making borders, for example, look for software with a border-creation feature. On the other hand, software that has lots of templates when you rarely use them may not be the right software for you.
-
Step 4
Check with the proper stores to find your software. Computer supply stores, electronics stores and craft stores often carry scrapbook software.
-
Step 5
Comparison shop. Make a list of the features that are most important to you (e.g., number of templates, ease of customization, special features, ease of use) and compare several software programs side by side. (Take price into consideration, too.)
-
Step 6
Download free scrapbook software from the Internet. There are many different free trial versions of scrapbook software out there. Downloading the free trial and using it for a while is an excellent way to try out many different programs before committing to a purchase. Once you have decided on a program, you can often pay for the full version online and download that without having to go into a store.
