Learn the Basic E-Wrap for a Round Loom

  1. Step 1

Insert a small thumb tack on the outer edge of the loom next to one of the pegs.

  2. Step 2

Using two strands, wrap the yarn twice around the thumb tack leaving a 3-inch tail.

  3. Step 3

Hold the loom with the pegs facing you.

  4. Step 4

Going clockwise around the loom, loosely wrap the yarn around each peg counterclockwise, in an under-then-over sequence. Each stitch should resemble a cursive 'e.'

  5. Step 5

Keep going around the loom until you get back to the beginning peg.

  6. Step 6

Wrap each peg one more time, going all the way around. When you have made it around one more time, anchor the yarn by wrapping it around the thumb tack twice.

  7. Knit off the Circular Loom

  8. Step 1

Start at the peg that's just to the right of the thumb tack when the pegs are facing you.

  9. Step 2

Take a knitting hook and place it under the first row of wrapped yarn.

  10. Step 3

Lift up the row and over the top yarn wrap on the peg. You now have your first stitch.

  11. Step 4

Repeat steps two and three in a clockwise direction.

  12. Step 5

Repeat steps four through seven in Section One.

  13. Step 6

Alternate between knitting and wrapping until you achieve your desired length of the fabric.

  14. Remove the Item From the Loom

  15. Step 1

Cut and leave a yarn tail of about 15 inches.

  16. Step 2

Thread the yarn tail through a yarn needle.

  17. Step 3

Insert the needle into the two-strand loop on each peg.

  18. Step 4

Thread the yarn all the way through the loop.

  19. Step 5

Lift the loop or stitch off the peg with the needle.

  20. Step 6

Work around the loom in the same manner.

  21. Step 7

Gather the top with the yarn tail and tie a knot at the end.

  22. Step 8

Pull the tail through to the inside using a crochet hook.

  23. Step 9

To secure the knitting, weave the tail through several stitches.

  24. Step 10

Leave about 1/2 inch of yarn on the inside.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use two strands when wrapping to keep the stitches loose. However, for a tighter stitch, use one strand and wrap it around each peg three times.
  • Avoid wrapping the yarn around the pegs too tightly. Tight wraps will make it difficult to lift the loops off the pegs.
