Pool noodles are long cylindrical foam toys used to help you keep afloat in the pool. Fun for people of all ages, pool noodles can help teach you how to swim, be used in pool games or serve just as a relaxing flotation device.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Select a Pool Noodle

Step1
Decide what size pool noodle you want. Pool noodles come in a variety of lengths and widths. Most pool noodles are at least 58 inches long and have a width from 2.5 inches to 4 inches. The wider the pool noodle the more weight it can successfully float. Likewise, longer noodles can wrap around larger people.
Step2
Choose between foam pool noodles and inflatable pool noodles. The most common pool noodles are made of a durable, flexible foam. Inflatable pool noodles are great for travel because they can be easily deflated and packed in a small space.

Choose Pool Noodle Accessories

Step1
Consider purchasing a pool noodle seat to go along with your pool noodles. Usually sold separately, noodle seats are made from comfortable mesh. With the pool noodle formed into a U-shape, the mesh seat is strapped to it creating a hammock-like chair. Noodle seats let you relax and float with most of your body in the water.
Step2
Think about buying noodle connectors. Made from the same soft foam as non-inflatable pool noodles, noodle connectors allow you to join multiple pool noodles together to create all different types of shapes. The complexity of the shape you can create is limited only by the number of noodles and connectors in your collection.
Step3
Select a pool noodle organizer to keep the area around your pool neat. Pool noodles are often thrown all over the place, especially when used by children. A pool noodle organizer can keep them straight in one place and help prevent slipping accidents.

Shop for Pool Noodles and Accessories

Step1
Go online to compare prices for pool noodles. At Nextag.com, you can select pool noodles from different retailers (see Resources below).
Step2
Visit any pool supply store or Big-box store to buy pool noodles. If you shop in person, you can enjoy your new pool noodles immediately without having to wait for shipping.

Tips & Warnings

  • It's a good idea to buy pool noodles in bulk. They are often sold in packs of six or more, and buying in bulk will save you money per unit.
  • Supervise children when playing with pool noodles. Pool noodles will not prevent accidental drowning.
