Step 1
Realize that the Cancellation system and the D'Alembert system are actually based on the same principle. The major difference is that the Cancellation system relies on a number line to help you calculate the ideal bet, where as the D'Alembert system simply tells you to bet more or less depending on the outcome without giving you an exact number.
-
Step 2
Start by creating a number line of 10 ones written 1111111111.
-
Step 3
Calculate your bet by adding the far right and far left numbers, in this case 1 + 1 = 2.
-
Step 4
Win the bet and cross off the numbers you just added, leaving you with eight ones written 11111111.
-
Step 5
Win again and continue this way until you have crossed off all 10 ones on your number line, then quit the game.
-
Step 6
Lose your bet and instead of crossing off the ones you added together, you now place their combined value at the far right of the number line. In other words, place a two (one plus one) at the end of the number line so that it reads 111111112.
-
Step 7
Use the Cancellation system to calculate your next bet by again adding the far right and left numbers, in this case one plus two equals three.
-
Step 8
Wager the three units and if you lose again, place a three at the far right of the number line and use it to calculate your next bet. The bet will equal four units because one plus three equals four. Your number line will read 1111111123.
-
Step 9
Place your next bet and continue in this way for each loss, but if you win, again cross off the far left and right numbers. If you win this bet, your number line would now read 11111112.
-
Step 10
Continue until all numbers are eliminated from the number line.
-
Step 11
Don't worry if this seems confusing. Use the D'Alembert system instead since they are virtually the same thing.
