Roulette betting strategies are designed to help players minimize loss and maximize gain. Strategies like progressive doubling and splitting are popular. The only one with a sure fire betting strategy, however, is the casino itself.

    Use Roulette Betting Strategies

  1. Step 1

Bet on red or black, even or odd, high or low. You have nearly a 50/50 chance of winning. The payout is less than longer shots, but your chances are better.

  2. Step 2

Bet the even money bets (red/black, even/odd, high/low) on just a single spin. Of all the roulette betting strategies, this one is the safest. Of course, this won't give you much time at the wheel and it can be very hard to walk away when you win.

  3. Step 3

Understand why probability betting strategies do not work for roulette. Since every spin of the wheel is an independent trial with an outcome that is not preconditioned on the previous outcome, there is an equal probability that any number or color will come up. If you think a roulette betting strategy of always betting red, for example, will put you ahead, you are mistaken. Even if black comes up 100 times in a row, there is still an even chance that black or red will come up on the next spin.

  4. Step 4

Try using the Martingale roulette betting strategy, at your own risk. This is probably the most popular of the betting strategies. The strategy is to progressively double your bet, thinking that this will eventually overcome the house's advantage. Unfortunately, like all systems, it is based on faulty logic.

  5. Step 5

Use roulette betting strategies to minimize loss. Bet less money on each spin and bet on better odds like even money bets.

  6. Step 6

Tips & Warnings
  • Avoid double zero or American roulette. The addition of an extra double zero space on the wheel doubles the house advantage.
  • Mathematically, there is no system that can actually beat the house in roulette. Each spin of the wheel has an independent outcome and gives the house a slight advantage. In the long run, the house will almost always come out ahead at roulette.
