Fabulous red or white sangria
Fabulous red or white sangria

A chilled glass of sangria, the perfect summer beverage! This particular version comes with a kick that will have your whole party asking....who made the sangria!!!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 cups red or white wine. I use Cabernet or Chablis.
  • 1 oz. Brandy
  • 2 and 1/2 oz. Triple Sec
  • 1 and 1/2 oz white rum
  • 4 oz. Orange juice
  • splash of sprite
  • apple and orange slices
  • ice
  1. Step 1

Take a half gallon pitcher and fill with ice.

  2. Step 2

Pour all ingredients, except the soda, over the ice.

  3. Step 3

Cut the apple into small diced pieces and the orange into small wedges, leaving the peel on. Add to the pitcher.

  4. Step 4

To serve you can either pour about 1/2 cup sprite into the pitcher or fill each glass and top individually with a splash of soda.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you are making sangria for a crowd, make sangria --without the ice but with the fruit--the night before in a large stock pot, and chill over night, gives the flavors time to blend together and leaves you free to enjoy your party.
  • When I make this for a party I usually make about 10 gallons, 5 of each. I use the Carlo Rossi gallon jugs of wine. After I am finished making all the sangria, I pour it back into the wine jugs and chill over night.
  • If by any chance you end up with leftovers, this sangria, will keep for about 3-4 weeks in the fridge..minus the fruit, which will only last a day or so. If you want to make a batch to keep on hand, add all the alcohol and then when you want to serve it just add the orange juice, fruit and soda

on 2/15/2008 If you are making Sangria for a Spanish themed party I highly recommend starting the night off with a Spanish themed shot called a "Mini Beer" it consists of equal parts Liquor 43 (a Spanish Liquor) and whipping cream. Pour the liquor in a shot glass and top with the cream, it looks like a miniature beer and tastes like heaven.
