Visiting a famous herb garden can provide a lesson in history and world geography. Gardens can have many themes, and the famous ones often have multiple themes spread across many acres of land. Since most every region in the world uses herbs for one reason or another, famous herb garden can be found all over the globe.

    Check the palaces and castles of Europe or China for famous herb gardens. Cooks in the kitchens of royalty grew herbs as part of elaborate gardens.

    Find famous herb gardens near monasteries, churches and convents. These gardens were used for centuries to heal and feed religious leaders and guests.

  3. Step 3

    Search the Internet for "famous gardens" to get a list of places to visit. Many famous gardens also have herb gardens on the same grounds.

  4. Step 4

    Look into gardens located in historic British territories like Africa, India and Australia. Wealthy Europeans who emigrated to these colonies brought European traditions with them, including the art of herb gardening.

  5. Step 5

    Inquire at the botanical gardens in major metropolitan areas. Famous gardens like those in New York City's Central Park or San Francisco's Golden Gate Park are certain to have herbs growing in their gardens.
