1
Tie wick to a pencil and lay the pencil across top of the jar with wick hanging down into jar. Tie an old button or bolt to the bottom of the wick to weigh it down. This will keep the wick from floating up as the candle sets.
-
2
Place white wax in milk or juice carton, microwave on low until melted.
-
3
Add a couple of teaspoons of vanilla, peppermint or cinnamon extract into the wax at this point, if scented candles are desired.
-
4
Pour melted wax a little at a time into the prepared jar with wicks. Alternate the adding of wax and crayons. Since the wax is hot, the crayons melt slowly, and the effect is very artsy!

5
Top it off with a few interesting pieces of crayon when the jar is almost full.

Tips & Warnings
Use clear jars that are generally laying about the house. Pickle, jelly and baby food jars are excellent for this type of project.
Separating crayons into color schemes is a fun twist (ex: red and green for Christmas and then top them with gold and silver).
Use a knife to tear the crayon wrappers off.
It is also cute to leave some of the Crayon wrappers floating in the candle or left on the crayon pieces.
Be careful not to burn little fingers near the hot melted wax.
