Things You'll Need:

  • Love of film
  1. Step 1

Check listings in your local newspaper. If a film festival is coming to your town, it will be advertised locally.

  2. Step 2

Ask around at any colleges in the area. Many film departments have their own annual film festivals. Sometimes they even show student's work. Who knows, you could be one of the first to view the next Scorsese's work.

  3. Step 3

Visit your state's film commission. Every state has a film commission or film office that takes care of film production in the area. If there's an upcoming film festival, they will know about it and might even be sponsoring it. If you're not sure where your commission is located, do a quick Internet search or check in your phone book.

  4. Step 4

Look online. There are Web sites devoted entirely to listing film festivals around the world. Most of the time, they will also have links to individual festival's Web sites.
