How to Be the Tooth Fairy
Children anticipate loosing teeth long before they are ready to fall out. Part of the mystique is the mythical Tooth Fairy to slips into their room unnoticed and leaves them a special surprise in lieu of their lost tooth. Make the moment even more fun for them by adding some fun surprises for the children to discover in the morning light.

Put the lost tooth in a special tooth pillow or pocket so the Tooth Fairy will be able to find it easily. Help your child arrange to have the tooth be easily accessible so the Tooth Fairy can find it.

Gather your supplies before entering the room.

Enter the child's room quietly and work quietly yet quickly so you do not wake the child.

Collect the tooth. Put it aside later in a place that the child will not find it.

Add a coin or dollar bill to the pocket where the tooth had been. Special coins can be purchased for this occasion but silver dollars or a $2 bill work well too.

Sprinkle "Fairy Dust" (glitter) on the pillow as evidence of a fairy's presence.

Leave a letter from the Tooth Fairy as well, complimenting the child on the health and cleanliness of the tooth. Promise to visit again.

Open a bedroom window a small crack so the child can see how the Tooth Fairy entered and exited.

Tips & Warnings
In lieu of money or in addition to it, add a toothbrush or special toothpaste to the Tooth Fairy's gifts. It will be a special touch and encourage tooth brushing.
Work in order of importance in case the child awakes.
If the child awakes while you are in the room, tell him that you thought you heard something and you wanted to check.
Make sure the child is sound asleep before attempting to enter their room. It is best to wait a few hours after they have been in bed.
