How to Make a Marquise Diamond With Paper Quilling
Diamonds are a girl's best friend and these diamonds could not be cheaper. Made from quilled paper, or thin strips of papers curled into circles, scrolls and other shapes, these quilled marquise diamonds can be made into borders, flower petals or added to other shapes for a stained glass type artwork. They are also called "Cat's Eyes" or "eye" shapes.
Things You'll Need
- Scissors
- Needle quilling tool
- Waxed paper
- Quilling paper
- Quilling template board
- Quick drying glue

Place all your supplies out on the table including the quilling tool, quilling template board, quilling paper, scissors, glue and waxed paper.

Trim one strip of quilling paper to 3 inches in length with the scissors.

Condition the quilling paper by running it through your fingers several times.

Twist the paper around a needle quilling tool until it is a tight coil.

Remove from the tool and place in a quilling template tool. Let it rest until it is the correct width.

Glue the open end to the coil itself. Let dry on waxed paper.

Pinch one end of the loose coil creating a tear drop shape.

Repeat on the other end, creating a marquise diamond.

Tips & Warnings
Create a sunflower quilled pattern by surrounding several tight black coils with several bright yellow marquise diamonds. Use a S-scroll as the stem and two pear shapes as leaves.
Make sure the glued end is at one of the points. It camouflages the cut end of the paper.
