How to Add Beads to a Scrapbook Page

Beads adorn jewelry, pillows, purses, chandeliers and clothing. They can also make a spectacular appearance on a scrapbook pages. Their sparkle and shine add glamour to a page and texture to borders, mats and titles. Beads can be strung on wire or string; placed in organza bags or shaker boxes; or glued on pages with crystal lacquer or clear drying glue. Whether you use monochromatic colors or a rainbow of hues, beads add an inexpensive twinkle to your scrapbook pages.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Thread
  • Needle
  • Wire
  • Wire cutter
  • Extra sticky double sided tape
  • Beads

    Beaded Border

  1. Step 1

    Cut a 13-inch length of wire with wire cutters.

  2. Step 2

    Curl one end of the wire around a piercing tool.

  3. Step 3

    String a selection of beads on the wire.

  4. Step 4

    Coil the other end, securing the beads onto the wire.

  5. Step 5

    Attach the wire to the page using small stitches.

  6. Beaded Title

  7. Step 1

    Cut a long length of extra-sticky double sided tape.

  8. Step 2

    Peel off the backing.

  9. Step 3

    Twist the tape tightly, creating a thin line.

  10. Step 4

    Write a loose cursive word by attaching the tape to the page.

  11. Step 5

    Sprinkle beads over the tape.

  12. Step 6

    Secure beads by pressing firmly into the tape.

Tips & Warnings
  • Beads are lumpy and can damage photos if an opposite page is pressed against them. Protect your photos by positioning beads away from photos and by using the smallest bead possible.
