While completing your annual spring cleaning, look to the pantry to rid cluttered space of unwanted items, leaving room to stock up on the basic items you need for the season. You will be best prepared if stocked with the items you need on a daily basis in addition to special items required for impromptu entertaining.

Things You'll Need:

  • Pantry storage
  1. Step 1

Purge your pantry of any items that could be stale or expired. Question any items that remained unused throughout the winter months. If you are unlikely to use an item, throw it away.

  2. Step 2

Load up on pasta, grains, beans and legumes. These ingredients lend themselves to numerous dishes fit for warmer or cooler weather.

  3. Step 3

Pick your veggies. If possible, purchase fresh vegetables from your grocer's produce department or a farmer's market. Opt for canned veggies if it is your best option.

  4. Step 4

Choose meats that are readily available and easy to grab from the pantry. Canned and packaged tuna, chicken and salmon are options you can quickly transform into a meal.

  5. Step 5

Compile a variety of oils and vinegars for infusing cooking with flavor. Canola, olive and sesame are great oils. White, balsamic and rice vinegars are nice, flavorful ingredients as well.

  6. Step 6

Flour and bread crumbs are important to have on hand for breading and baking.
