You remember how you made your eyes and fingers sore playing those old 8-bit and 16-bit video games for hours. Your old collection of cartridges is long gone, but now you're hoping to find those games again. Whether you wish to go back to the days of simple graphics and simple play control or you're just a nostalgia buff, those old video games are out there and you can revisit the past.

From Quick Guide: Classic Console Gaming
Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Visit online auction Web sites. Not only may you find the games, you may be able to get them for bargain prices.

  2. Step 2

Visit garage sales and see what's available. Someone may be selling something that they're no longer wanting, but it could be a treasure to you!

  3. Step 3

Ask around at retailers, especially videogame stores. Maybe one store won't have what you're looking for, but the guy at the counter may know where you can find it.

  4. Step 4

Check online stores. This may be searching for a needle in a haystack, but anything's worth a try.

  5. Step 5

Check video game play Web sites. Some have the old classic games available for online play.

  6. Step 6

Attend video game conventions. They mainly focus on the latest games, but fans of the classics can also show and may have some tips.

Tips & Warnings
  • Some game manufacturers have reissued their classic games to be played on their newer systems. They could be available as packaged disks for the consoles or as downloads.
  • For extreme fans, the large, coin-operated machines may be a choice. They will be harder to find and more expensive, but they may be found in trade shops and online auction sites.
  • Be careful with the quality of old games and machines. Years of hard use might have seriously worn down the computer systems.
