Argentina is an increasingly popular destination for adventure travelers. The diverse terrain of Argentina--from the plains to the rivers and the mountains to the beach--provides ample opportunities for adventure and thrill seekers.

From Quick Guide: Argentina Travel 101
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Appropriate clothing and gear
  • Passport and vaccinations
  • Trip reservation
  • Airline tickets
  1. Step 1

Decide which types of adventure activities interest you. Visitors to Argentina can experience trekking, horseback riding, mountain biking, kayaking, paragliding, rafting, scuba diving, skiing and safaris.

  2. Step 2

Contact Enjoy Argentina at (866) 978-4458. Enjoy Argentina can help you decide which area you would like to take your adventure trip-from Buenos Aires to Igauazu Falls to Patagonia and everywhere in between. They offer a variety of adventure trip packages and can book tours, airfare and other accommodations. They are a full service travel agency, specializing in trips to South America.

  3. Step 3

Choose the dates for your trip. The weather varies greatly depending on which area of Argentina you are visiting. Winter (June through August) is the best time to travel to northern Argentina, as it does not rain as often, and the temperatures are not as hot. This is also a good time to go to Patagonia. The glacial areas of the south are best visited in the summer, unless you particularly are looking to experience the glacial weather. Consult with Enjoy Argentina to decide what time of year is best for your trip.

  4. Step 4

Get your passport and vaccinations. A passport is required for U.S. citizens to enter Argentina. A visa is not necessary, unless you are staying longer than 90 days. There is some risk of malaria in Argentina, if you are traveling to the rural areas of Salta and Jujuy provinces or to the Misiones and Corrientes provinces (along the border of Paraguay). The Center of Disease Control recommends you should take chloroquine, an anti-malarial drug, before going on your trip. Although no vaccinations are required for travel to Argentina, you should talk to your doctor and consider vaccines for Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Rabies, Typhoid and Yellow Fever..

  5. Step 5

Whether you are hiking, snorkeling, skiing or participating in any of the other adventure activities in Argentina, always listen to your guide, and practice safety precautions. Enjoy your adventure trip.

Tips & Warnings
  • Bring both winter and summer clothing if you are going to be traveling to several regions of Argentina.
  • Pack several pairs of walking shoes or boots.
  • Do not carry a lot of cash or wear flashy jewelry as tourists are sometimes the victims of crime.
